What is Bendroflumethiazide?

Bendroflumethiazide tablets are a medicine used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and swelling caused by a build-up of fluid in the body (oedema). Bendroflumethiazide, sometimes known as Aprinox, belongs to a group of medicines known as thiazide diuretics, which are often referred to as ‘water tablets’ as they make you pee more.

High blood pressure is often symptomless but a build-up of fluid is often noticeable by affected areas that look swollen or puffy. Swollen areas can be painful and prevent you from being as mobile.

You can buy Bendroflumethiazide tablets online from a trusted prescriber and pharmacy such as e-Surgery or obtain a prescription from your local GP. If you choose to buy Benzoflumethiazide tablets online from e-Surgery prices start at 9.95, complete a short healthcare questionnaire to check the medication is right for you and have your medication delivered to your door!

How do Bendroflumethiazide tablets work?

When you buy Bendroflumethiazide tablets online, or from your local GP, they will work by getting rid of fluid and salt from the body by making you urinate more, which ultimately helps to reduce blood pressure.

The tablets will work in the kidneys by drawing extra potassium and sodium out of the body’s bloodstream. These salts then extract any excess water with them and pass it into the urine where it is expelled from the body. The removal of the retained fluid will cause swelling to reduce in size with the affected area usually returning to normal.

The medication also relaxes the blood vessels, helping blood to flow through your body.

Although these tablets may increase a person’s desire to pass water via urine, this is rare and people don’t normally notice an increased urge to urinate.

What is high blood pressure?

Around a third of adults in the UK have high blood pressure, although many will not realise it.

The only way to find out if your blood pressure is high is to have yours checked as high blood pressure is often symptomless.

You can find more information about high blood pressure on the NHS website.

The risks of high blood pressure can include an increased exposure to heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and vascular dementia.
