  • Other medicines to regulate lipid levels, e.g. gemfibrozil, other fibrates, colestipol
  • Some calcium channel blockers used for angina or high blood pressure, e.g. amlodipine
  • Other medicines known to interact with Atorvastatin tablets include ezetimibe, warfarin oral, contraceptives, stiripentol, cimetidine, phenazone, colchicine, and antacids
  • Medicines obtained without a prescription: St Johns Wort.
  • Oral fusidic acid to treat a bacterial infection

Can I take Atorvastatin tablets if I am pregnant?

Do not take Atorvastatin tablets if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. If you can get pregnant it is recommended to use some form of contraception to avoid pregnancy when taking Atorvastatin tablets. The safety of taking Atorvastatin tablets when breastfeeding is not currently known so is not recommended. Speak to your Doctor or prescriber before using this medication if you are breastfeeding, pregnant, could be pregnant or are planning to get pregnant.

  • are taking or have taken in the last 7 days a medicine called fusidic acid, (a medicine for bacterial infection) orally or by injection
  • have had a previous stroke with bleeding into the brain

  • have had repeated or unexplained muscle aches or pains, personal history or family history of muscle problems
  • have had previous muscular problems during treatment with other lipid-lowering medicines (e.g. other -statin or -fibrate medicines)
  • regularly drink a large amount of alcohol
  • have a history of liver disease
  • are older than 70 years
